Elsa Snowflake Hairpins Tutorial (Custom Shapes in Resin)

Hello everyone! Today my tutorial post with be about making Queen Elsa of Disney’s Frozen’s hairclips. This can also serve as a tutorial on how to cast custom shapes in resin, whether it’s snowflake or not!

Elsa’s snowflake earrings have a semi-transparent and sparkly quality to them that I thought was best-suited for a resin project. I chose to do the color in icy blue because that would really make it icy! You can also choose to do it in silver or any color/variety you want.

Tutorial Time: Thick Waistband Loli-able Skirt

I will hereby call my Sewing posts as Instinctive Sewing because I have near-zero sewing background. I pretty much sew and draft patterns by instinct! Except for the patterns they taught in 5th grade TLE–basic shirt, skirt and shorts, all of which we never sewed anyway…just patternmaking, really boring tbh–I have no real formal lessons with sewing. It’s always been a long, hit-and-miss thing with me. I have been trying to sew since circa 2009. I’ve only recently gotten the hang of it. Almost five long years!

 photo skirtee_zpsab8c8b7b.jpgAnyway today I thought I’d share with you all how to make my recent loli-able skirt. It was a skirt I sewed mid-late-2013 and I’ve recently decided to ‘redux’ it. I haven’t taken enough proper photos as this wasn’t intended to be a how-to when I was  taking photos, just a chronicling, but I did try my best to illustrate the pattern and describe it all with my best! Read more for rough pattern and directions. ^^;;

Tutorial Time: Epoxy Resin Casting

Craft time! Today I’d like to share my experience casting items out of Epoxy Resin. I’ve always wanted to try resin casting, and I finally decided to invest in some last October. A lot of my clients had custom commission requests that needed custom transparent gemstones, so I thought resin would be a business investment as well (that and shiny new craft stuff to play with yay)

I’m just quickly going to run you guys with the how-to’s and some tips!

Quick and Easy: Fabric Painting with Stencils

Quick and Easy (and cheap too xD) time this week! Today we deal with something every costumer or cosplayer had probably thought of–fabric painting. Sometimes characters wear clothes with specific patterns that can’t be readily found in fabric stores. I’m going to run everyone very quickly to a technique I use–making and using stencils for fabric painting. ^^

yuffie-collageYuffie was my first ever cosplay way back 2010. So very sorry for the blurry photos, our cameras were a no-go back then. xD She has very specific floral patterns on her shirt that I did using this technique.

You’ll need some paper, cutters, a pen, a brush, and your acrylic or fabric paint. That and your reference photo. And that’s really all you need. ^^

Tutorial Time: Polymer Clay Bangles and Armbands

Quick and Easy (and Cheap!) Tutorial Time! This week I tell everybody how to make bangles or armbands out of Polymer Clay. Most anime/game characters wear bangles or arm bands (which miraculously never fall off)  so it’s a popular accessory! You may want to try making one yourself. 919770_193032464181100_2073551715_o

This bangle was my first polymer clay bangle~ I’ve used the technique I explained here in making it. ^^

I’ve browsed local markets and most polymer clay bangles sell from between 400-800PHP, which is pretty expensive. D: I tried to calculate why this was so and by doing so figured out how to make them on the cheap(er).

Polymer Clay Starter Kit Shopping List!

claysh0p0Hello everyone! Back with my helpful post for the week. I’d like to share with everyone a “Shopping List” of sorts to help you take the leap if you want to get into the polymer clay hobby for the first time! If you’re a newbie you might think all you have to buy is clay, but there are other must-buy tools that are important that you might miss out on if no one tells you what you must buy! That’d be disastrous! Imagine having lots of clay but having no tools to work with them! D: So I decided to make this list, hopefully to help out newbies!

Few tips for Cosplayers | Photoshop

sh0p9

Quite awhile ago I found a question in the local Cosplay Ask group on Facebook. The question was how you make your skin like the reference posted–totally even skintone, heck, without even the trace of an eyebag or puffiness. I don’t know if it’s even realistic, since it’s really doll-like in quality at best. It’s a popular look for Asian cosplayers.

While I love make-up and I think it’s the best solution to that problem–quality products used,  good concealer, etc–we can’t deny that such things are already “retouched” and post-processed. So here I present to you…

Lo and behold, my Photoshop “cheat” guide to OMG KAWAiiDESU-NESS!

Quick and Simple (and Cheap!): Prop Sword

It’s Quick and Simple time–and this time, Cheap too! We’re making a Prop sword for your cosplays (or school project needs) that’s made of cheap, recycled materials that you might already all have at home!

First, I suggest you check on this tutorial by Crimson Shirou (click here for link!) as this step-by-step of my own was inspired by his. The tutorial from Crimson Shirou will result in a sturdier, more durable sword, while mine below uses more economical and easy-to-acquire materials (especially if you live in the Philippines).
